Kids their age.

If I could colour my life, it would be like this.

You have to make it in time for summer, Maneki!

weallsliponice asked: Those island pictures are really good!

Thank you! I haven’t gotten around to publishing them all. Film is really pretty isn’t it? :)

December 2009:

When hometown blues became too much to bear, I took a chance and ran away for a few days. We sailed in the night and by morning we step foot in a thriving island in Visayas. We had cups of chocolate and rice cakes for breakfast somewhere near the city market. We rode the local “tricycle” to our new home. In the days that followed, we would go out on our own to explore the city and live like the locals; buying groceries, cooking our own meals, commuting, drinking beer at night while strumming the guitar, mingling at the local bar. Then there were days when we would be the tourists, with our cameras around our necks and sunglasses to complete the look. We set out to visit old churches, pristine beaches, and museums.

Then it was time to say goodbye to the island, sail away and face the city, the man, and the wedding I had missed (his sister’s BTW, my life isn’t that dramatic).

Painting Maneki (my fortune plant) before it dies on me. Unfortunately for my fortune plant its leaves are turning brown. I’m googling how to take care of it right now, I hope it lives. Oh please let it live. If it doesn’t, it means I can’t get a fish :(

When you tell the world what you want, it will unravel itself before you. Today has been a little overwhelming considering that it was only yesterday we shared our insights (over macaroons and garlic chicken) on how we wanted our lives to turn out.

I’m not sure what left me energized, if it was all the running we did downtown, the food, the spinning drum toy, the music box, your advice, or the sun?

It doesn’t matter now, our future is once again ablaze.

I had turkey, avocado, and swiss for lunch at Cottage Deli. It’s a nice little place hidden in the heart of Gastown, where they serve good food at inexpensive rates. Sandwiches range from $4-$7. The view looks out to the north shore, and the owners are nice and friendly, and it’s a very quiet place. Perfect for lunch dates. Thanks to my boss at the art gallery for introducing me to this place.

A few of my favourite things:

Spinning toy drum, music box- a reminder of my childhood. Papa and mama gave me similar gifts.

And flowers, pressed flowers.
